Last Saturday in Seattle the very first Special Olympics Robotics Championship was held at the Pacific Science Center.  This program pairs "students with and without intellectual disabilities with the goals of bringing STEM education to students of all abilities and creating communities of acceptance for all."  The program was started by a student who's autistic sister was interested in robotics but couldn't find a team to participate in.  Modeled around the Special Olympics Unified Sports team this program is designed to provide more opportunities to special needs students and to break down societal barriers and help everyone to learn a more inclusive mindset.
