Early this morning users trying to get to wikileaks.org were redirected to a page created by OurMine claiming to have hacked the organization. But rather than actually hacking into the WikiLeaks servers it looks more like they just fooled the DNS servers into thinking wikileaks.org was housed somewhere else. This is an attack called "DNS poisoning" and while it isn't a literal security breach it is definitely problematic and points out the weaknesses of DNS protocol. To learn more about these risks and how o protect your servers you can download the Infoblox WhitePaper: Top Five DNS Security Attack Risks and How to Avoid Them. You can also get a free copy of their DNS Security eBook by requesting it on the Infoblox website.
